Maine inspiration
My more realistic works tend to be inspired by Maine's beauty. Abstracting it is great fun, but I enjoy the challenge of trying to capture as realistically as possible the essence of what makes it so special...its rocky ledges and quiet sunlight woods, its green meadows filled with purple lupine that roll to the water's edge; its blue waters dotted with lobster boats and islands as far as the eye can see...Maine holds a special place in my heart and in my paintings.

Welcome to my gallery
My earliest goals as a painter were to find "my style". What could be more rewarding than having viewers remark upon seeing my work, "that's definitely a Carol Patch". After all, everyone knows a Monet when they see it, right? And no one would mistake an Andy Warhol for a Jackson Pollock. But I simply have too much fun exploring different styles to "stay in my lane". And the idea of painting sunflowers or potatoes over and over sounds rather dreary (with due respect Vincent). So with that said, I hope you enjoy the variety as much as I do in creating it.
